One of my favorite conservative bloggers wrote a piece that seems to equate unionism to slavery and hits on a few other similar themes. See
here. There is a lot of truth and a lot of misinformation in what he says. How do we pick through to see reality?
He uses biblical analogy (Israelites/Egypt), which when talking about politics is pretty polarizing to begin with. His attack of the education levels of public workers (even those with multiple degrees) is uncalled for. There is a lot of rhetoric on both sides. Everyone deserves to retire comfortably, however the real issue is the state budget crisis. Neither private companies or the government can afford to pay benefits like they used to and that is a tough pill to swallow for everyone.
