House Cuts Money

The house voted to cut $60 billion from the federal budget over a 7 month period to help show that the Republicans are serious about the debt and the government. The Senate is controlled by the Democrats and will show no sign of budget cuts, which could lead to a standoff later in the future. A quote from the article, “We have a mandate from the American people to cut spending,” declared Representative Judy Biggert, Republican of Illinois." I am guessing everyone is for this spending? The Republicans want to cut spending in every area of the government. Is there a certain area that you would cut first before another?

  1. The House also voted to cut all of Planned Parenthood's federal funding. Planned Parenthood provides a much needed, reliable and confident social service for women, teens, and men. I hope it the Senate stops the bill.

More strikes, like that in Madison will occur if spending cuts in the public sector occur.

  2. There is a mandate from the American people to end both of the wars too, but that is of no matter apparently. If they want me to believe that they are serious about debt and government, then they will put the option of cutting defense spending on the table. Until then, its all garbage

  3. Closing down the US government sounds like it would be devastating to our country in such a weak economic time. Seniors not getting their social security checks, no food safety inspection, and no airport security for an extended period of time? That is just scary to think about. Hopefully congress can agree on something so it doesn't come down to this. In terms of the argument, I think we definitely need to cut down on government spending, but I agree with the democrats in the sense that cut spending should be focused on areas of waste and excess and not the programs that keep us safe and that keep our economy growing. I also think defense spending should be strongly considered to be put up on the chopping block too.
