South Africa and its economic climate

http://www.businessday.co.za/articles/Content.aspx?id=162633

This article switches gears a little bit, focusing more on South African Interest Rates, Inflation, etc. I think there is an interesting point in the article, when it discusses volatility in global markets, and a potential recession in an ever changing European economy, which happens to be South America's main trading partner. Could the U.S. potentially try and pick up where Europe will have a difficult time, maybe swooping in some more trading to help our economy? Or is South Africa not worth it to try and penetrate? Right now I think the South African market is too unstable for the U.S. to make a significant push to enter it.

  1. I agree, mike. The South African market is too unstable for the U.S. to risk entering it. Not to mention the instability of the U.S. market. Taking such a risk could potentially help the U.S. get back on track; for the time being, however, I think it is better to take the safe route and let things pan out a little more.
