U.S. Trade Deficit with China

This article discusses the trade deficit that the U.S. is experiencing with China.  It stresses the fact that the U.S. may have a very difficult time turning around its deficit because we send raw materials to China for assembly only to import the finished product back to the U.S.  With the growing importance of globalization (as well as our need to remain on good terms with China), how do you think the U.S. should avoid adopting an ever-increasing trade deficit?  What are the costs to major U.S. businesses and the rest of the public?

  1. This just seems stupid to me. Why in the hell would we continue to repeat this process? I think its time the US stops sending raw materials to China and have things made here in America. I know the cost of goods will go up, but it will create jobs and reduce unemployment which at this point I think Americans would be willing to pay a little more for products to reduce unemployment.

  2. I agree partially. I know that we have to have jobs in the US but we also need to find a way to do it cheaper. If we can do it for cheaper and still create jobs it would be ideal
